My first project was a simple apron. I love aprons! It would be easy for me to start a collection of them in my kitchen! But this one I made for my neighbor. I used an apron that I already had for a pattern.
I also made her a Bible case because we had bought her a Swahili Bible for Christmas. I looked online for ideas, found a picture of one I liked, and then combined several patterns to make the one I wanted. I was very worried that it wouldn't fit the Bible, but in the end it did, and I was so happy with it. Now I just hope that if I ever make another one, I can remember what I did!
Several links I used for ideas on how to make it are here and here and here. These patterns were free to use.
And then my latest project has been crocheting a couple of plant hangers. I love the way a plant looks when it is hanging, especially plants that vine. So I made a hanger for my wandering jew and another one for my philodendron.
| This turned out to be my favorite. |
With help from BJ, I now have them hanging from the rafters right outside my kitchen window. I love plants!
I found the patterns for these two hangers here. It is one download with two patterns. When it loads up, it says the site has a poor reputation, and I'm not sure why. I asked BJ if it was alright to go there, and he said there shouldn't be any problem with a crotchet site! Unfortunately, it was not free. I had to pay $5.00 for it, but I couldn't find any other patterns that I liked better.
So these are the things that have been filling my "free time" lately. Now my mind is already jumping ahead to what my next project might be!

What a lovely home aking art. My nine year old loves to sew by hand. The plant hangers are wonderful.
Very, very nice! I especially like the Bible cover (you did that by hand?!) and the plant hangers. I love plants very much... but have a TERRIBLE time keeping them alive! Someone once said they need a substance called... water? HAH!
Jessi, I have a sewing machine you are welcome to borrow any time for almost as long as you need it. Now that we are empty nesters, I don't have the need to use it as much as I once did.
Wow! That is a blessing. I might take you up on that sometime when I have a big project to do. Thank you!
